TEACHING PLAN

Curriculum

At the University of St. La Salle Basic Education, the school follows the K-12 curriculum set by the Philippine Department of Education. The K-12 program includes kindergarten, six years of elementary education, four years of junior high school, and two years of senior high school. This curriculum is designed to prepare students for higher education, skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.

For elementary students, the curriculum covers subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, Filipino, Social Studies (Araling Panlipunan), Values Education (Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao), and MAPEH (Music, Arts, PE, and Health). Teachers use a student-centered approach, making lessons interactive and engaging through discussions, hands-on activities, and the use of technology.

Teaching Plan

Before doing my first demo teaching, I had to prepare a lesson plan. My mentor, Teacher Riza Mae Guarin, guided me throughout the process. The lesson plan format used in the Philippines is quite different from what I’m familiar with in Indonesia, so it was a new learning experience for me.

After drafting my lesson plan, Teacher Riza checked it and helped me improve the structure and content to make sure it aligned with the learning objectives and teaching strategies used at USLS Basic Education. She also gave me advice on how to engage students, manage the classroom, and deliver the lesson effectively.

Demo Teaching:

  •          Grade              : 1A & 1B
  •          Subject            : English
  •          Topic               : My Future Self
  •          Time to Teach : 45 Minutes
  •          Supervisor       : Riza Mae Guarin
